Testimonial on Senepol Feedlot Performance

During the period from 2002 until 2012 I was the manager at Welcannah Feedlot, Moree which entailed ten (10) years involvement with the domestic feedlot business. During this period the main focus was supplying Woolworths and in the latter years at a rate of 150hd/week.

 

This involvement with the domestic trade enabled access to a broad section of breeds and their crosses that met the strict guidelines of a supermarket grid. On several occasions we fed Senepol cross cattle which were predominantly Senepol/Santa cross supplied from a local producer. There were several attributes of this Senepol cross which were clearly evident in comparison to other breeds in the feedlot during the same period which included:-

 

·         Exceptional weight gain

·         Excellent feed conversion

·         Perfect temperament

 

What struck me most of all was their ability to tolerate high heat load periods which were indicative of the summer months in Moree. In this trait they were superior to the other breeds in the feedlot which was also apparent in some paddock inspections that I undertook. To this end, with the experience I had in the feedlot industry, I would recommend Senepol cross cattle to do the job.
